Annie Lam, Ph.D.
Out of the many roles and responsibilities in my life, I find that working with clients brings me the most joy and fulfillment. It is a tremendous privilege and honor for me to be able to share in the intimate details of my clients’ lives – sharing in their joys, struggles, challenges, growth, and development. I believe that the core of human development lays in forming and maintaining emotionally intimate relationships. Therefore, the therapeutic relationship is the key to healing. I work hard to create a safe and supportive environment for my clients, focusing on deeply exploring and understanding each individual client’s unique history, circumstances, strengths, skills, and worldview. My work with clients focuses on identifying their strengths and talents, helping them to gain insight about patterns of relating that may be unproductive, and encouraging them to experiment with new ways of behaving. I approach psychotherapy from a relational dynamic perspective, emphasizing respect, warmth, mutuality, and collaboration. My clients and I journey together, focusing on increasing their self-awareness, making healthier decisions, and learning how to balance the multiple, competing responsibilities in their lives.
I am a licensed psychologist in Pennsylvania and earned my Ph.D. in counseling psychology at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA. I am a member of the American Psychological Association.
