Xiaolu Jiang, PSY.D.
As a licensed psychologist who has worked with clients from the age of 5 to 65, I strongly believe in the power of people to change when they are ready, willing, and able. Thus, I view therapy as an opportunity for clients to develop their readiness, willingness, and abilities in order to make whatever change they desire.
My approach to therapy stems from the fundamental idea that our thoughts, emotions, and actions are inextricably linked and are affected by outside forces, such as our upbringing, culture, family, and society. Therefore, to facilitate change, I will work with my clients to examine these internal as well as external factors that contribute to distress and explore those which foster resilience to improve the quality of life.
I believe in a collaborative working relationship, allowing clients to develop their own insight and solutions by helping them become aware of counterproductive patterns in their thinking and behaviors. I often integrate cognitive-behavioral interventions with mindfulness and acceptance strategies.
I am a licensed psychologist in the state of Pennsylvania and received my doctorate in clinical psychology at Widener University’s Institute of Graduate Clinical Psychology. My past experiences consist of conducting individual, couples, and family therapy in outpatient clinics in both Pennsylvania and Massachusetts. I am especially passionate about and have extensive experience working with individuals who have faced significant trauma in their lives.
