Whoever said,” life is a bowl of cherries”, was not being entirely honest. While, we certainly experience all kinds of wonderful things in our lives, we also are challenged by feelings that can sometimes overshadow those positive events. Everybody deserves to own a set of tools that can be utilized when bad feelings become all consuming. Who would not want to have the ability to tackle the negative feeling in order to get back to those ripe, sweet cherries?

Mental mistakes or cognitive distortions are ways of thinking that help us to understand and navigate our world.  Cognitive distortions are learned ways of thinking.  Our experiences can help to reinforce them.  Though they help us to cope, can be adaptive and are logical they are not rational. When some are used in excess they can create difficulty with your thinking, lead to painful experiences, and stunt your experiences.  Take a moment and think about the cognitive distortions you may make.  Do you use these?
